JORDAN E. MCKAY practices in the firm’s commercial group and focuses on various areas of commercial litigation and business law. His litigation experience includes matters involving business torts, construction law, securities litigation and arbitration, and employment law. In addition, Jordan also provides legal representation to small- and medium-sized businesses on general corporate matters such as business formation and structure, commercial leases, employee-related matters, mergers and acquisitions, and the negotiating and drafting of contracts.
Most recently, Jordan served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia, where he prosecuted money laundering and felony drug conspiracy cases, managed grand jury investigations, and wrote and drafted appellate briefs before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Prior to his appointment as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, Jordan clerked for the Honorable Alfred S. Irving, Jr. of the D.C. Superior Court in Washington, D.C., where he was exposed to various areas of family and civil law.
Jordan graduated cum laude with a B.A. in History from Amherst College, in Massachusetts, and received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. While in law school, Jordan was an Executive Editor of the Virginia Journal of Social Policy and the Law and a member of the Black Law Students Association’s Mock Trial team.
